Dr Angie Enoka (she/her) is a communications professional and has worked in the NZ public sector as a senior advisor for many years. She is uniquely positioned to walk between mainstream, kaupapa Māori, Pacific communities and a strong and supporting voice for the Pacific Rainbow community. Her research interests include the media, seasonal workers, and health for transgender people with a strong passion for equity and access.

Originally from Samoa and residing in the Wairarapa, Angie is a proud fa’afafine (trans woman), a trusted advisor, a champion of diversity and inclusiveness and a powerhouse in cultural competence. Angie was the first fa’afafine to complete a PhD in media studies at Massey University in 2019. She is currently leading the Māori and Pacific Communications Team at the Ministry of Education.

Angie’s insight into this project is phenomenal from her communications and engagement expertise to cultural safety and her lived experience.
