Dr John McMenamin is the clinical director of HARC. He has worked as a Whanganui GP since 1980. During his practise at Wicksteed Medical Centre he completed his doctorate Screening for Alcohol Use Disorder in General Practice. He is currently clinical director for Gonville Health a VLCA subsidiary general practice of the Whanganui Regional Health Network (WRHN). John has continued his interest in screening and worked in various screening and preventive health roles for the Te Whare Tohu Rata o Aotearoa (Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners), Te Hiringa Hauora (Health Promotion Agency), the National Screening Unit, and Manatū Hauora (the Ministry of Health). He is currently GP/Primary Care lead for the National Screening Unit and Primary Care advisor for Manatū Hauora Tobacco Control. John is chair of WRHN clinical governance and secretary of the Whaganui RNZCGP sub-faculty.
