I  hold Professional, clinical, education, psychology and research qualifications and have held senior and executive positions in all these sectors. I also have extensive working experience in project management, strategic, operational, educational action planning, and quality assurance.

Retired from my position as Professor, Consultant to the Ministry of Health in the Sultanate of Oman, Directorate of Training and Education, I came to live in Whanganui in 2014. In Oman I built up the teaching and research capabilities, including ethics, and capacity of Omani in the health care sector; also developing and delivering a Bachelor of Nursing degree in collaboration with Cardiff University. My previous roles have included Regional Director and Associate Professor  (Wellington) of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Director of Midwifery  programmes and Health Studies Massey University, Research Director Dept of General Practice and Community Health, University of Tasmania, Research Associate, Dept of General Practice, Auckland University. As an independent researcher I currently undertake contract work for HARC previously the Health Solutions Trust. Recently I wrote a case study of ‘An enhanced screening protocol and training package for at-risk older adult drinkers attending primary care’, a joint Auckland University, Massey University and Health Solutions Trust study funded by the Health Promotion Agency. Currently she is lead researcher on a research activation grant developing a research collaborative for primary health service provision funded by the New Zealand Health Research Council. In addition I am engaged in  writing and reporting on an early pregnancy assessment, Best Start, a collaborative research project with the Whanganui Regional Network and partially funded by the HRC.  I have a clinical background in midwifery and neonatal care,  and  a reviewer for several social and medical journals, has successfully undertaken research projects in New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, UK and Oman; I am published  author, international conference presenter, and postgraduate research supervisor.
